About Andrew Dettelbach & Katie Goss:

ANDREW DETTELBACH:

At 15 years old, my mother was diagnosed pre-diabetic. The result was an immediate transition to a healthier and more active lifestyle for myself. What would come next was even more defining…

After graduating college, I experienced a massively debilitating back injury – a 10mm herniation at my L4/L5 disc and bulged disc. I had sciatica down both of my legs that persisted for 2 years and prevented me from continuing my life the way I lived it. I stopped working out, lost 40lbs of muscle, and fell deep into depression. I spent those 2 years exploring my movements, figuring out what felt good and what hurts, and slowly reintroducing weighted movements. I applied my findings to thousands of patients in a chiropractic clinic (CaliSpine). I created an online program that changed the lives of over 12,000 individuals (MoveU).

Many people know me for my ability to articulate individual body parts in mesmerizing ways. I haven’t always had this ability. The control that I have over my body came as a result of my many injuries. The more I connected my mind with how my body moved, the less pain I experienced. As someone with Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS), I have found that improving my body awareness and strengthening my weaknesses is the most profound thing that I can do for myself. Fortunately, this appears to hold true for everyone else as well.

I am grateful for the tremendous pains, struggles, and opportunities I have experienced in my short life. I have helped hundreds of thousands of people on social media and in programs, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to continue providing for others alongside some incredibly like-minded individuals.

KATIE GOSS:

My interest in health and wellness began 20 years ago when I decided to take on a career in nursing because I was passionate about helping others. As a cardiac critical care nurse, I enjoyed the constant learning and critical thinking it required. After several years I became frustrated with the constraints placed on medical providers by insurance companies and hospital administrators. It became increasingly difficult to find the time to educate patients and prepare them for success as the hospitals cut staff and increased patient loads. After navigating the medical system as a patient and struggling to get the answers to my own health issue, I became passionate about creating a change in the way healthcare works. Knowing the power of prevention and self-care, I left the medical field, trained in Pilates and continued my own health journey experimenting with different approaches.

I believe that our healthcare system is amazing at treating emergencies; in other facets however, I consider it to be a sick-care system. I feel that education is the first step in creating lifestyle choices that improve overall health and believe people should be the drivers in their own health journey. Having seen and treated MANY diseases which were caused by lifestyle factors, I know the power that lies in modifying daily choices to achieve optimal health, happiness, and performance.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my sweet sons, being outdoors, cleaning and organizing ALL THE THINGS (yes, seriously), collecting plants, cooking, reading, and laughing with the loves of my life. I cherish my fiancé, Andrew, and love our family we’ve created.
